Kazakhstan Chamber of Mines at the EITI Global Conference 2026: Transparency, Investment and International Cooperation
Ruslan Baimishev, President of the Kazakhstan Chamber of Mines, is participating in the EITI Global Conference 2026, taking place on 8–9 October in Brussels, Belgium.
Held under the theme Transparency for Shared Prosperity, the conference brings together more than 1,000 representatives of governments, extractive companies, civil society and international organisations from over 50 countries.
Key topics on the agenda include the future of responsible mining, growing demand for critical minerals, supply chain transparency, disclosure of contracts and beneficial ownership, data digitalisation, and the role of the extractive sector in sustainable economic development.
The conference also marked the renewal of the international EITI leadership. The Kazakhstan Chamber of Mines congratulates the newly elected EITI Board and its Chair, Maria van der Hoeven, and wishes them every success in their work. The Chamber also expresses its sincere appreciation to the outgoing Board and its Chair, Helen Clark, for their contribution to the development of the EITI and the promotion of transparency principles in the extractive industries.
Amid global uncertainty, upholding high standards of responsible business conduct, strengthening trust and fostering international cooperation are becoming increasingly important. These issues were highlighted by the OECD Secretary-General, the Executive Director of the UNODC, and government officials from various countries. For Kazakhstan, where the extractive sector plays a key role in the economy and in attracting investment, transparency and predictability in the regulatory framework for subsoil use remain essential factors in investment attractiveness.
The Kazakhstan Chamber of Mines consistently advocates the adoption and promotion of high international standards of responsible business conduct, transparency and corporate governance. Participation in international initiatives enables the Chamber to represent the interests of Kazakhstan’s mining industry on the global stage and strengthen dialogue with international partners.
A practical contribution by the Chamber to the implementation of the EITI was its funding of the preparation of Kazakhstan’s EITI National Report for 2023–2024, in accordance with a decision of the National Stakeholder Council (NSC) and with the sponsorship support of Pallas Resources and GRK MLD.
