China Conference: Central Asia 2026
On 7 September 2026, Astana will host China Conference: Central Asia 2026, an international conference organised by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) in partnership with the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC). The President of the Kazakhstan Chamber of Mines will participate in the conference as a speaker.
Hosted for the first time directly in the region, China Conference: Central Asia 2026 will bring together senior policymakers, international and Chinese investors, business executives and experts to discuss the role of Chinese investment, trade and economic cooperation in the region’s development. The conference will focus on key areas including macroeconomics and diplomacy, mining and mineral resources, financial services and capital raising, as well as infrastructure and connectivity.
One of the key themes of the programme will be the development of a modern and investable mining industry in Central Asia.
On 7 September, the President of the Kazakhstan Chamber of Mines will speak at the session “The New Minerals Race – How is Central Asia Building a Modern, Investable Mining Industry?” The discussion will focus on growing global demand for mineral resources, Central Asia’s investment potential and the conditions required to attract long-term investment in mineral exploration and mining. Participants will examine how countries across the region can leverage their resource potential to integrate into global supply chains and develop a modern, competitive mining industry.
China Conference: Central Asia 2026 reflects Central Asia’s growing role in economic relations with China and in global investment flows. The conference will provide a platform for direct dialogue between policymakers, investors and businesses, as well as for building new cross-border partnerships.
