On April 5, members of the Kazakhstan Chamber of Mines celebrated Geologist Day in the mountains of Almaty—enjoying great company, a nice hike, and lively conversation. They started at Medeu, climbed up to Gorelnik, and then had lunch at the Sary Sai restaurant.

The best part of these gatherings isn’t just the scenic route and the healthy exercise, but also the fact that conversations flow naturally along the way—about projects, plans, new opportunities, and the future of geology.

During lunch, we tried another great format: mini-presentations by the participants. Everyone had the chance to briefly talk about themselves, their company, and their current projects. It turned out to be easy, interesting, and very useful for making new contacts and partnerships.

It looks like we’ve started a new tradition: meeting in the mountains at least once a quarter, and if possible, even more often.

So, it’s official: The Kazakhstan Chamber of Mines is launching the Mountains Club and is immediately announcing a contest for the coolest name!

Send your ideas to Tatyana (info@chamberofmines.kz) by April 13, and we’ll announce the winner at the coming General Members’ Meeting April 16.

It was a great format for Geologist Day: mountains, networking, showcase your company, new connections, and lively conversations without any formalities.

Join us on our next hikes!
